A few questions that come up often and do not need a page of their own.
Why do wipes cause blockages if the packet says flushable?
"Flushable" describes whether an item will leave the toilet, not whether it will break down afterward. Toilet paper is designed to lose its structure quickly in water. Wipes are designed to keep theirs — that is what makes them useful as wipes. In the line they stay intact, and they readily catch on roots, scale or anything else protruding into the pipe. Paper towels and hygiene products behave the same way.
Standing water, or a belly in the line?
Both look like water sitting in the pipe on camera, but they mean different things. Water held because something downstream is restricting flow should clear once that restriction is removed. Water held because a section has settled and no longer falls consistently toward the sewer will still be there afterward. Telling them apart usually means clearing the line first and looking again — which is why an inspection immediately after clearing can be more informative than one before it.
What happens during a sewer camera inspection?
A camera on a flexible push rod is fed into the line through an access point and advanced along the pipe while the view is watched live. Findings are described as the head travels. If the line is full of standing wastewater or blocked, it generally has to be cleared first — a camera cannot see through sewage or past an obstruction it cannot pass.
Does clearing a line repair it?
No. Clearing restores flow through the pipe. It does not close a crack, realign an offset joint, or change the opening that admitted roots. A line with a physical defect will tend to keep presenting the same problem, which is why recurrence is worth investigating rather than simply clearing again.
